James W. Adair, III

A lifelong resident of Ohio, Jim spent his childhood and young adult life in Cincinnati. No stranger to hard work, Jim worked his way through the University of Cincinnati graduating with a degree in chemistry. After graduation, Jim moved to Columbus to attend The Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law, earning his Juris Doctor Degree.

After law school, Jim began his career as a General and Enforcement Counsel of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, serving 13 years. Jim advised the Agency on all aspects of environmental protection, including air and water pollution, solid and hazardous waste, and safe drinking water. This passion for environmental policy allowed Jim to later serve as Executive Director of the Ohio Hazardous Waste Facility Board.

In 1989, Jim left government and began a career in general practice. As a solo practitioner, Jim represents clients in civil, family, probate, bankruptcy, real estate, administrative and environmental matters. He has trial and appellate experience in both state and federal courts. Jim served as an Administrative Hearing Officer for the State of Ohio.

Community and family are very important to Jim. In the 1980’s Jim served as President of the Northwest Civic Association during a time of great growth and development along Bethel and Sawmill Roads. The group worked with the City and neighbors to develop infrastructure, development standards, and sidewalks that remain today.

Jim is the proud father of four adult children, as well as a doting grandfather. Jim and his wife Anne, an elementary school teacher, have been married for 33 years and reside in Northwest Columbus with their two dogs and three cats.
